Of all the materials that are used to produce rocking chairs the wooden rocking chair is constantly the most popular for both indoor and outdoor use.  Many people choose to purchase aone due to the variety of woods, finishes and designs that are available.  They are also popular as the wooden look is timeless and can be matched with many colour and deco themes in the house or nursery.

They are generally constructed with hardwood, soft wood and a combination of the two.  Using hardwoods such as oak, walnut and maple in the construction of the rocking chair results in a chair that is durable and will last for many years.  Using hardwoods is great for the  durability of a rocking chair but hardwoods can be expensive which makes these rocking chairs quite expensive.  Using softwoods in the manufacture of the rocking chairs still produces great rocking chairs but the cost of these soft timbers is less which results in a more economical wooden rocking chair.
